UK climate maps present Britain set to be hotter than Athens this week

The UK is set to be hotter than Athens this week as temperatures are forecast to hit 19C in Cardiff, with London and Manchester also enjoying an unseasonable warm spell

Parts of the UK are poised to sizzle again this week, with some areas even hotter than Athens. Sunshine is forecast for the majority of the week, reaching highs of 17C on Wednesday and peaking at 19C in Cardiff and 18C in London and Manchester on Thursday, according to the Met Office.

In contrast, the Greek capital is expected to experience temperatures of 17C – along with wind and rain, as per the BBC’s forecast. The forecast also indicates that the sunny spell will persist into the weekend for the UK, with temperatures of 18C predicted for both Friday and Saturday.

Sunny intervals are anticipated for the capital on Monday and Tuesday this week, with temperatures of 14C and 15C respectively, reports the Mirror.

The Met Office suggests that some early showers may sweep across the North and East today, while the South and West remain largely dry with periods of sunshine.

By evening, showers will gradually dissipate. The forecast predicts initial clear spells, but clouds will thicken and bring some drizzly outbreaks. Meanwhile, winds will intensify in the south.

On Tuesday, there could be grey skies and patches of drizzle before conditions settle and become drier and brighter throughout the day, with warm sunny spells for most.

From Wednesday to Friday, the weather is expected to remain largely settled, albeit rather windy in the South, and some cloud cover at times along eastern coasts due to an onshore breeze.
