Gary Neville’s sister rages at ‘really scary’ abuse hurled at Man Utd icon in road conflict
Gary Neville was taking a walk outside when he was approached by a man who verbally abused the former defender while filming the encounter, with his sister calling the incident ‘truly scary’
Tracey Neville has slammed the “truly scary” incident where brother Gary was subjected to vile abuse in the street.
The former Manchester United defender appeared in a video earlier this week showing a member of the public verbally attacking him during a walk. The clip, which has been viewed over 2.5million times and received 23,000 likes on social media platform X, captures Neville being confronted by an individual in broad daylight.
The man, who is filming, is heard saying: “Is that Gary Neville? W*****,” to which Neville replies “you what?”. The man then continues his tirade of abuse by saying: “W*****, w*****”. That’s what you are. F****** w*****.

“Listen, I’m filming you because you’re a f****** w*****. You’ve got f*** all to know about the working class man, you have. Hey, even your own fans have turned against you because you’re a f****** p****,” reports the Mirror.
The video has a caption reading: “Gary Neville getting called a f****** w***** is not what I expected to see on a Monday morning, but it is delightful.”
Neville’s sister Tracey is among those to have replied and wrote: “Situations like these are truly scary and I can assure you they are not delightful.”
Former footballer John Hartson also weighed in. He wrote in reply: “What does this moron think he is achieving. Gary with one of his family and some t** is abusing him in public.
“If you feel like you want to abuse people gone do it in front of your tv screen not in public. Not very clever!”
Neville, 51, has yet to publicly address the video himself. The ex-United star was working for Sky Sports at the weekend after providing commentary for Manchester City’s potentially crucial triumph over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
The former England defender is not the first Sky Sports pundit to have been embroiled in a confrontation with a member of the public this week.
Jamie Carragher was also targeted by Everton supporters ahead of Liverpool’s Merseyside derby win at Hill Dickinson Stadium over the weekend.
Some home supporters were heard shouting: “F*** off Carra, you soft c***” before then yelling “F*** off you k*** head”.
Carragher could be seen reacting to the abuse and engaged in a brief exchange. He chose to disregard the remaining comments and carried on with his walk around the pitch.
