Moment bare-chested dashing driver hurls himself out of a 50mph shifting automotive earlier than making an attempt to flee police on foot

This is the moment a bare-chested speeding driver launched himself out of a 50mph moving car before trying to flee from police chasing him.

Conrad Tonkinson, 22, was being chased by police after being clocked speeding in a 30mph zone on Tuesday afternoon.

Police pursued Tonkinson, who was driving a blue Nissan Qashqai, around Ollerton and Boughton in Nottingham at around 1.35pm.

Dashcam footage shows Tonkinson, of Boughton, cruising through a residential street before hurtling toward a dead end in Bentinck Close.

Moments before he ploughed into a fence, a bare-chested Tonkinson jumped out of the driver’s seat.

He continued on foot while officers chased after him, but was arrested after a short distance.

Tonkinson admitted to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without valid insurance.

He was remanded into custody and will be sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on May 13.

Detective Sergeant Paul Clark, of Nottinghamshire Police, said Tonkinson’s driving was ‘extremely poor,’ putting others on the road ‘at risk’.

He said: ‘Despite it being early-afternoon and him being on residential streets at the time, he decided to take off at speed and make a series of erratic decisions behind the wheel.

‘That was summed up by him abandoning the car he was driving while it was still moving, springing from the driver’s seat and allowing it to crash into a wall.

‘Tonkinson’s terrible driving was in complete contrast to the excellent standards shown by the Roads Policing Unit officers behind him.

‘Thanks to their superior driving skills and the pace they showed in the subsequent foot chase, nobody was hurt, while we were able to detain Tonkinson and put him before the courts.’
