Stephen Bunting was a surprise addition to Coventry City’s Championship title party.
Frank Lampard’s side had already wrapped up promotion to the Premier League and following Ipswich Town’s draw against West Brom on Saturday, the Sky Blues were confirmed as champions before they even kicked a ball against Wrexham on Sunday.
Coventry sealed their coronation day in style as a 3-1 victory in front of their home crowd weakened Wrexham’s play-off position ahead of the final day. But there was a special guest in the form of the Premier League darts star and former Masters champion.

Footage from the dressing room after the title lift showed Bunting walking in with his red and black darts shirt on while the stunned Coventry players serenaded him with their rendition of his iconic walk-on song ‘Titanium’.
Bunting belted the tune out before Coventry’s promotion heroes sang his chant of ‘Let’s go Bunting mental.’
‘The Bullet’ greeted and congratulated every player in the dressing room before he posed for a group picture holding the Championship trophy alongside academy graduate Josh Eccles.
Bunting told talkSPORT that he had been invited to watch Coventry this weekend following his home Premier League night in Liverpool.
He said: “Coventry City have been in touch. They want me to go down on Sunday and have a game with some of the players which would be interesting and get them ready for the Premier League next year.”
Bunting and Coventry’s connection runs through their adopted song ‘Titanium’, with Coventry singing the song during their travels around the country on their way to dominating the second tier.
He added: “They were on the team bus and they were doing the Titanium and the whole bus was singing it, so I think that’s where that’s come about.
“It’d be great to go down and see some of the lads and have a game of darts with them and congratulate them all because it’s such an achievement what they’ve done, getting into the Premier League and now the big job for them is to stay in it.”
Coventry’s remarkable revival from on the cusp of liquidation in 2013, falling into League Two in 2017 and being kicked out of their ground for two years between 2019 and 2021 has been completed with Lampard at the wheel.
Speaking to the fans on the pitch, Lampard said: “The biggest thing is the football club is only as big as the people who support it.
“You’ve been down a lot, you’ve been to different stadiums, because when you’re born this way, you’re never going to change. You’ve gone through everything.
“One of the biggest pleasures we get as a group is giving you the joy of this moment. This moment is yours.”
