TUI, easyJet and Jet2 have all confirmed they will not impose fuel surcharges on pre-booked or new holiday bookings amid fears over rising jet fuel costs linked to the Middle East conflict

SOUTHEND, ENGLAND - APRIL 17: An EasyJet plane comes in to land at Southend Airport on April 17, 2026 in Southend, England. Fatih Birol, the executive director of the International Energy Agency, estimated this week that Europe has "maybe six weeks or so" of jet fuel left, due to the disruption caused by the Iran war and oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. British Chancellor Rachel Reeves said the UK is not facing an immediate shortage of jet fuel, but that the government was monitoring the situation very closely. (Photo by Dan Kitwood/Getty Images)

Airlines promise no extra holiday charges despite fuel crisis fears

  • Major airlines have rushed to reassure holidaymakers they won’t face extra charges despite soaring jet fuel costs sparked by Middle East tensions.
  • Jet2, easyJet and TUI have all confirmed they will not impose surcharges on pre-booked holidays or flights. The airlines moved quickly to calm passenger fears after fuel prices rocketed due to the ongoing conflict.
  • Neil Swanson, Managing Director at TUI UK&I, said: “Our teams are here to support people who are thinking about booking, and those who have already booked with TUI can be reassured that their holiday price is fixed, with no fuel surcharges added.”
  • EasyJet pledged no surcharges will apply to any pre-booked holiday packages or new bookings for summer 2026. The airline said it currently sees no disruption to its jet fuel supply and all operations continue normally.
  • Jet2 CEO Steve Heapy declared: “Holidaymakers should have every right to book their hard-earned break in the sun, without worrying about being hit with additional costs.” The airline has eliminated surcharge provisions across all flights and holidays booked through any channel.
  • The Department for Transport issued guidance stating there is no current need for passengers to change travel plans. Officials said UK airlines buy jet fuel in advance and airports maintain stocks to support resilience.
  • However, British Airways parent company IAG has discussed “pricing adjustments to reflect these higher fuel costs” despite not seeing supply interruptions.
