Need to know: Monster 35ft Shark Spotted Off British Coast Leaves Witnesses Gobsmacked

  • A massive 35ft shark has been spotted off the British Isles, leaving witnesses absolutely gobsmacked.
  • The enormous beast was caught on camera thrashing through the water near Aranmore Island in County Donegal. Footage showed its dorsal fin cutting through waves in classic Jaws fashion, sparking fears of a deadly predator.
  • However, the terrifying-looking creature turned out to be a harmless basking shark. Captain John Paul Baska from Northwest Charters witnessed the spectacle with a family of five aboard his vessel.
  • “It was big, maybe 35-feet-long,” he said. “But the family of five who were on the charter were impressed.”
  • Basking sharks are the world’s second-largest fish and pose no threat to humans despite their menacing appearance. They feed solely on plankton and can be seen swimming alone or in small groups.
  • The sighting comes after a man in his 50s was mauled by a Great White shark while snorkelling in Australia last month.
