Arsenal information: ‘£80m switch race’ with Man Utd and Liverpool as goal speaks on rumours

Arsenal will face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals, as transfer links to Julian Alvarez have finally been addressed and the Gunners are targeting an £80m Premier League ace

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have their sights set on a spot in the Champions League final as they prepare to face off against Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners will contest the first leg of their semi-final in the Spanish capital tonight. Arsenal have enjoyed a memorable European journey, claiming victory in every match during the league phase before seeing off Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting CP to secure their place in the last four.

Now, Atletico stand as the sole obstacle between the north London outfit and a first Champions League final since 2006. Looking to thwart them will be Diego Simeone – alongside the Argentine manager’s star frontman, Julian Alvarez. The ex-Manchester City ace remains heavily touted for a switch to Arsenal. He has finally broken his silence – here’s all the latest news from the Emirates.

Julian Alvarez addresses transfer rumours

Alvarez has been tipped for an Arsenal move since the start of the January transfer window, reports the Mirror.

Reports had indicated that Arteta views Alvarez as his primary objective heading into the summer, with a £86million fee potentially sufficient to secure his services.

Boss Simeone has tackled these claims on multiple occasions, including prior to the clash with the Gunners. And a price tag exceeding £120m is now anticipated to be Atletico’s valuation.

But the 26-year-old striker has apparently become exasperated with all of this speculation and he stated in his pre-Arsenal press conference as per Sport: “I try not to pay too much attention to everything that’s said.

“New things come out every week, all kinds of new information. I try not to waste energy on that and focus on what we’re doing here.

“I can’t come out and clarify or deny everything that comes out. I try not to give too much importance to what’s said on social media.

“It often starts to become a snowball of lies. I don’t want to waste energy on this and I want to save it for things that help the team. We are focused on who we are today as a group, and we want to make history ourselves.”

Arsenal interested in Bournemouth ace

Regarding other transfer developments concerning the Gunners, talkSPORT reports they are monitoring Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi closely.

The Frenchman has netted 11 Premier League goals this campaign at merely 19 years of age and has already drawn interest from numerous clubs. Both Liverpool and Manchester United have been connected with Kroupi, alongside Arsenal.

Bournemouth paid just £10m when they secured Kroupi from French outfit Lorient in February 2025, but fresh reports indicate his current price tag is considerably steeper for the star who can play behind a striker or on the wing.

It has been suggested the Cherries have placed an £80m valuation on Kroupi, £16m above the £64m they received from City for Antoine Semenyo. There is allegedly no release clause in Kroupi’s deal.
