Ben Affleck baffles followers as he chomps down on an apple in public AGAIN… however there is a cause for weird new behavior

Ben Affleck was spotted chomping down on another apple in public while running errands in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon.

The 53-year-old actor was dressed in a business casual look as he took big bites out of the juicy red fruit amid his apparent attempt to stop smoking cigarettes.

It marks the third time in a week that Affleck has seemingly chosen apples over cigarettes, which is a known behavioral technique used to kick the addictive habit. 

Affleck has been a longtime smoker, who reportedly quit in 2007 but resumed sometime in 2016.

While Affleck has not spoken publicly about quitting smoking this year, healthy snacks like apples or even chewing gum are often used to resist cravings by giving ‘your mouth something to do,’ according to the Mayo Clinic.

Fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the Hollywood hunk’s new go-to treat, with some jokingly tweeting that they wish they were ‘an apple getting devoured’ by Affleck. 

Affleck looked at ease on his Tuesday outing in a light blue shirt with navy corduroy pants and a beige sport coat.

The Boston-bred filmmaker added brown boots, which coordinated with his brown belt.

His greying hair was cut short and his grizzled beard was closely trimmed. 

Affleck’s errand run comes one day after he attended the Bring Change to Mind Revels And Revelations Celebration at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco on Monday night. 

He was joined by longtime friend and collaborator Matt Damon, with whom he stars in this year’s crime/thriller The Rip.

Affleck shares three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner – Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14.

They were married from 2005 until their separation in 2015, and their divorce was finalized in 2018.

During an appearance on Bustle’s One Nightstand podcast in February, Garner explained: ‘When your kids grow up in two separate households, I become mom and dad, and he becomes dad and mom.

‘You kind of can’t help it, right? Because you don’t have the benefit of both sides, the yin and yang being in the same house, so you have to have a bit of both in the way you parent.’

She added, ‘There’s a little bit of loss in that, but there’s also something gained in that…you also just learn. It’s made me let go and not focus so much on the bringing up.’

And the actor told E! News in January, ‘You put something on your children when you have a public life and that’s complicated.’

‘We really want to give them room to figure out what they want to do,’ he said about not pressuring their children into any particular career. 

Affleck was married to Jennifer Lopez from 2022 to 2024, and recently surrendered his share of their marital mansion. 

The exes, who purchased the sprawling estate in May 2023 for $60,850,000, have been attempting to sell it since July 2024, shortly before Lopez filed for divorce.

According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, the former couple quietly amended their property settlement, which was filed in January 2025.

On April 9 they added a ‘stipulation and order’ to modify specific terms of their estate.

Although many of the terms remain the same, the updated terms state that Lopez ‘shall be solely responsible for all expenses [associated] with any future sale of her interest in the Wallingford Residence, including but not limited to broker’s commissions, applicable taxes, closing costs, etc.’

In addition, they note that there will be a ‘transfer of property’ at some point.

Their August 2022 wedding came almost 20 years after they called off their first engagement.

Following their first split in 2004, Lopez went on to marry and welcome fraternal twins with her now-ex-husband Marc Anthony.
