Arsenal’s Premier League trophy parade was marred by horrific violence and shocking fights as it descended into “carnage”.
Gunners fans were celebrating their first Premier League triumph in over two decades on Sunday, even after their Champions League heartbreak when they lost to Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday evening, but jubilation was quickly replaced by sickening scenes as punches were thrown and fans knocked out in the streets of London.
Thousands of football fans had lined the north London streets surrounding Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium to welcome home Mikel Arteta’s heroes – but with the crowds came trouble as police struggled to maintain order, with 16 people arrested and one person stabbed. Videos showing the true extent of the violence soon went viral on social media.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the 16 arrests related to charges including drunk and disorderly conduct, drug offences, sexual assault and assaulting emergency workers.
Mobile phone footage emerged depicting some of the chaos – with one clip showing two women fighting before a man wearing an Arsenal top gets involved in sickening footage.
He can be seen throwing what appears to be a flurry of punches at the two females, as shocked witnesses intervene and try to stop him. The trio are eventually pulled apart as stunned onlookers continued to film the man as he was dragged away.
In the same clip, a woman and a man can be seen arguing before they are pulled apart by more fans trying to enjoy their day out.
Another clip, also shared on X, showed a man in an Arsenal shirt seemingly knocking out another man after what appeared to be a disagreement. There’s some pushing and shoving before the same man drops another individual, who falls to the ground apparently unconscious.
Officers were called to the scene of a stabbing on Hornsey Road just after 8.30pm and responded with paramedics and the air ambulance.
A man has been taken to hospital where his condition will be assessed, The Metropolitan Police said.
Cops were also spotted grappling with Arsenal fans attempting to rush the Emirates Stadium during the Premier League title parade, which descended into “carnage”.
An eyewitness who attended the parade said: “What started as an amazing day quickly turned into carnage. Fans were climbing scaffolding, lampposts and trees just to catch a glimpse of the buses.
“Luckily, the people around me were in great spirits but leaving the area was chaos.” Around 500 police officers were deployed at the event, which the force described as one of their largest of the year.
The London Fire Brigade were also kept busy, with a flare igniting a fire in a hotel, while “approximately 75 people” had to be rescued from heights, having climbed up trees and on top of bus stops and buildings for a better view of their heroes.
One video circulating on social media showed three Arsenal fans perched on a small tree before it collapsed, leaving them sprawled on the floor.
Assistant Commissioner Pat Goulbourne, the strategic event commander for LFB, stated: “Fortunately, the fire caused only a small amount of damage to the exterior of the building,” reports the Mirror.
“Pyrotechnics are also believed to have triggered the fire alarms at several other locations in the area. As supporters head home, we would urge them to avoid using pyrotechnics, particularly at stations, and to keep them away from buildings and other flammable materials.”
Goulbourne added that the event was a “fantastic sight” and that the majority of the fans were “celebrating their club’s achievement safely”.
Following congestion at the nearby tube stations, conditions started to improve late in the afternoon, enabling the masses to scatter. A substantial clean-up operation was then launched, with all the rubbish requiring collection.
Arsenal stated on their website before the event: “The health and well-being of our supporters and community is our utmost priority throughout our celebration.
“The parade is being organised and delivered in collaboration with Islington Council and multiple partners, including the police, TFL and other emergency services.
“There will be stewards along the route to help manage crowds, provide directions and offer assistance, with barriers and cordons in place to keep people safe.
“You may notice an increased police presence in and around Islington on the day, which is normal for an event of this size.
“Officers will be working with supporters, local businesses and the public throughout to provide a reassuring presence for everyone attending.”
