Teacher accused of ‘providing to purchase scholar booze and lingerie in change for intercourse’

Zachary Neu, 32, from Texas, was arrested on Tuesday after claims he had been communicating “inappropriately” with a former student

A school teacher has been accused of offering a student money for lingerie and alcohol in exchange for sex.

Zachary Neu, 32, is facing a charge of compelling prostitution under age 18. Neu, who taught at Wylie East High School, north Texas, US, was arrested on Tuesday following allegations that he was communicating “inappropriately” with a former pupil.

A statement from Wylie Police Department said: “The investigation revealed that during conversation, Neu offered to purchase alcohol for the minor and send money for lingerie in exchange for sexual conduct. At this time there are no known additional victims connected to this investigation.

“However, if you or your student have any concerns regarding interactions with Neu, please contact the Wylie Police Department.”

Neu was fired immediately after his arrest, school officials stated. Police are urging anyone with concerns about interactions with Neu to contact them. Parents at the Wylie East High School have been notified about the police investigation.

In a letter to family members and parents at the high school, WISD Superintendent Kim Spicer stressed the “serious” nature of these allegations.

Spicer said: “While I am limited in the details I can provide due to the ongoing criminal investigation, I want to be absolutely clear that the allegations are serious and wholly inconsistent with the standards we expect of our employees.”

“Educators hold positions of authority and are entrusted with tremendous responsibility,” Wylie News reports.

“As adults, they are expected to exercise sound judgment and understand that they are responsible for maintaining appropriate boundaries and relationships with students at all times. Under no circumstances should a district employee engage in private communication with a student through personal social media or other unofficial channels.”

The Superintendent stated teachers should never communicate with students through personal or social media channels. She said: “Electronic communication between students and staff should occur only through official district platforms, such as district email or Wylie ISD Connect (ParentSquare).

“These rules exist to protect students and staff, maintain transparency, and ensure accountability.”
