Max Verstappen out of Monaco Grand Prix and drops X-rated rant in first lap drama

Max Verstappen is out of the Monaco Grand Prix on the opening lap of the race.
The Dutchman qualified in P2 for the race on Sunday and lined up alongside the World Championship leader Kimi Antonelli on the front row. However, Verstappen’s Red Bull suffered a technical issue that saw him stall at the start.
As the lights went out, Verstappen’s car moved off the line but immediately was bogged down by a total loss of power. The four-time world champion was luckily able to avoid contact and pull his Red Bull over to the side of the road.
On-board footage showed Verstappen’s steering wheel had seemingly turned off when he attempted to pull away.
Verstappen was able to eventually get away at the back of the field but was down on the power and limped his way around the streets of Monte Carlo. He asked his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase for advice on the issue but was told to pit and the car was subsequently retired.
Speaking on the team radio at the time when the problem struck, Verstappen fumed: “Yep, nice. Completely, **** guys, what the **** man.”
Verstappen put in a surprise qualifying performance on Saturday as he out-qualified both Ferraris, who had dominated the practice sessions at the start of the weekend.
The Dutchman started the weekend in seventh in the drivers’ standings and had been feeling confident behind the wheel of the RB22 following his early season criticism as he picked up his first podium of the year in Canada last time out.
