Bill Gates has admitted that twisted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein tried to blackmail him with “painful” secrets about his private life. The Microsoft tech mogul, 70, made the confession during a dramatic closed-door House Oversight Committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, US.

Gates revealed that the sick paedophile discovered he had been unfaithful to his then-wife Melinda, and weaponised the information after Gates cut ties with him.

In an explosive prepared statement, Gates said: “I learned Epstein had become aware of sensitive information about my personal life, including the fact that I had been unfaithful in my marriage. These affairs had nothing to do with my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family.”

The tech genius firmly denied any wrongdoing, insisting he never saw any signs that Epstein was involved in “ongoing criminal conduct.”

Instead, he claimed the manipulative pervert tried to use the deeply personal secrets to drag him back into his orbit.

Gates explained that Epstein used the affairs, “in addition to many lies that he layered on top,” in a desperate bid to apply pressure.

Gates added: “He was unsuccessful in this effort, but it shows some of the ways he tried to leverage his interactions with me to further his agenda.”

Expressing deep regret over the toxic association, Gates told lawmakers: “I should never have met with Epstein in the first place.”

He strongly distanced himself from Epstein’s infamous properties, saying: “At the outset, I want to state very clearly: I never witnessed nor had any indication that Epstein was engaged in ongoing criminal conduct.

“I never went to his island, his ranch, or his Florida home. I have never victimised anyone. While he may have sought to foster a personal relationship, I was never interested in that and never reciprocated.”

Gates maintained that their initial 2011 meeting was based on Epstein’s claims that he could secure billions for global health causes – even though Epstein had already pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting prostitution from a minor.

Gates said: “I recall being aware that Epstein had faced prior legal issues, but I did not fully understand the extent of the crimes he committed. I accepted the introduction without applying the scrutiny I should have.”

The Gates Foundation has since launched an external review, reiterating that no collaboration ever took place and no money changed hands.

Gates was called to testify after the Justice Department released over three million Epstein-related files, including highly bizarre documents.

Among the trove was a wild draft email Epstein seemingly wrote to himself, pretending to be Gates’ science adviser, Dr Boris Nikolic.

The odd text alleged Gates had caught an STD from “Russian girls” and wanted to secretly give Melinda antibiotics.

The creepy draft read: “To add insult to the injury you them implore me to please delete the emails regarding your std, your request that I provide you antibiotics that you can surreptitiously give to Melinda and the description of your penis.”

A spokesperson for Gates previously slammed the claims as “absolutely absurd and completely false,” saying they only prove “the lengths he [Epstein] would go to entrap and defame.”

The sordid fallout contributed to the collapse of Gates’ 27-year marriage to Melinda French Gates, which ended in divorce in 2021.

Speaking on NPR’s Wild Card podcast, Melinda opened up about the trauma of the Epstein revelations.

She said: “It’s beyond heartbreaking. I remember being those ages those girls were, I remember my daughters being those ages.

“So, for me, it’s personally hard whenever those details come up, right? Because it brings back memories of some very, very painful times in my marriage.”

She later told CBS she was relieved to have closed that chapter, adding: “I am so happy to be away from all the muck.”
