Manchester United are looking to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window and have been linked with a reported £100m move for Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, with a surprise goalkeeper target also emerging
Manchester United will seek to bolster their squad during the transfer window following a promising conclusion to the campaign. Boss Michael Carrick orchestrated a turnaround in the team’s fortunes to clinch a Champions League berth.
United’s return to European action places additional importance on nailing summer signings as Carrick’s squad prepares to juggle multiple competitions. The midfield has emerged as a key priority, with United already securing an early agreement for Atalanta sensation Ederson.
Nevertheless, the club maintains interest in alternative midfield options. Nottingham Forest ace Elliot Anderson, who is poised to feature prominently for England at the World Cup, ranks among several players linked with a switch to Old Trafford.

The 23 year old delivered an outstanding season despite his side’s relegation scrap. Anderson has also caught the eye of Manchester City, with Forest reportedly placing a £100million valuation on his services, reports the Mirror.
Separately, United are allegedly considering a swoop for Leeds United keeper Karl Darlow. Mirror Football examines some of the major stories surrounding Old Trafford.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe gives £100m transfer green light United are reportedly confident of securing Elliot Anderson’s signature, with club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe prepared to satisfy the player’s salary expectations. Forest have previously turned down an initial bid from Manchester City, who are believed to be leading the chase for the midfielder.
The Guardian has suggested that United believe they can persuade Anderson to choose Carrick’s outfit over City, who had an opening £80m proposal knocked back. It is understood that United co-owner Ratcliffe is ready to fulfil Anderson’s wage requirements should the midfielder decide to join the club.
Anderson currently pockets around £100,000 per week at Forest and would probably see a 50 per cent boost from either Manchester side. West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes is amongst several other midfield options also under consideration by United.
In a separate transfer twist, United are reportedly weighing up an approach for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow. The 35 year old featured in 22 league matches for Daniel Farke’s squad last season.
The Daily Mail suggests that Darlow is seen as a potential deputy behind Senne Lammens. The Wales international would provide fresh backup as it is claimed Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana are not in the club’s future plans.
Darlow, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, is expected to be available on a free transfer as his Leeds contract draws to a close. Wolves’ goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is also said to be on United’s shortlist as a homegrown talent, having begun his career at the club.
