Inverness Airport closed in ‘ongoing incident’ as passengers informed to ‘contact airline’
Inverness Airport has been suddenly forced to close for at least two hours after the official X account posted it is currently dealing with an “ongoing incident”
A UK international airport has suddenly closed due to an “ongoing incident”, according to the X official account of the travel hub.
Inverness Airport has been forced to close this afternoon (June 14) due to an currently unknown situation as they have warned customers ahead of coming to the airport.
The airport said it will remain closed until 4pm but did warn to keep an eye out for updates. The message also urged passengers to contact their airline for further details on flights.
In a message on X posted at around 1:51pm, Inverness Airport wrote: “Inverness Airport is closed until approximately 4pm due to an ongoing incident. We advise passengers to contact their airline for the latest flight updates before travelling.”
The same message was also published on X by Highlands & Islands Airports, which manages Inverness Airport.
Despite the airport currently being due to reopen at 4pm, disruption for passengers will continue with the latest showing delays for the majority of flights due to takeoff and land today.
Flight times on the airports website currently have all arrival flights delayed from 2pm to 5:15pm. The flight from Luton to the airport at 5:30pm is currently on time.
However, departures at the airport are seeing delays from now until 5:55pm. The only flight currently on time is the EasyJet flight to Luton at 6:25pm.
A spokesperson for Inverness Airport has said there is no further information to share regarding the incident at this moment in time.
