With Andoni Iraola now at the helm and long-serving talisman Mohamed Salah departed, Liverpool are embarking on a fresh chapter. One player definitely on Liverpool’s wishlist is RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

Liverpool’s aspirations of landing Diomande could face a major setback, with PSG reportedly keeping tabs on the 19-year-old’s circumstances. The European champions have yet to lodge a formal bid for the winger but that could alter soon as they evaluate their transfer possibilities.

Prior to sanctioning any substantial signings, PSG are anticipated to reduce their squad size. According to Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid are in discussions to secure Kang-in Lee, with talks over personal terms reportedly advancing well and a deal moving closer.

Should that transfer materialise, it could clear the path for PSG to step up their pursuit of Diomande. Reports indicate, though, that the French powerhouses will only officialise their chase if they receive positive signals from the player about a potential switch to Paris.

PSG are scarcely lacking in attacking firepower, with Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola all featuring prominently last campaign, reports the Mirror.

Whether space exists for another marquee winger remains uncertain but if PSG opt to join the hunt, Liverpool could discover themselves confronting fierce rivalry for one of their priority summer acquisitions.

Wonderkid defender scouted

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring highly-rated Australian defender Lucas Herrington closely, with the youngster also catching Barcelona’s attention.

The 18-year-old centre-back, who earned a place on the bench for both of the Socceroos’ opening fixtures at the 2026 World Cup, is considered amongst Australia’s most promising emerging talents.

Barcelona have already made their intentions clear, reportedly tabling an initial offer that was subsequently turned down by Herrington’s club, the Colorado Rapids.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool scouts have been tracking the teenager throughout this MLS campaign, sparking suggestions that the Reds might enter the pursuit for his services during the summer transfer window.

Those close to Herrington have taken notice of his potential. Former Premier League defender Rob Holding, now his colleague in Colorado, recently lauded the youngster’s composure and progress.

“He’s super composed,” Holding said. “Super relaxed on the ball, under pressure. He’s a really good player. He just keeps getting better and better each week.”

Liverpool’s forward planning in defence could make Herrington an appealing prospect. With Virgil van Dijk approaching the final year of his deal, a defensive overhaul is set to become an increasingly pressing concern.

The club have already committed £60m to securing 20-year-old defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, though whether they’ll escalate their pursuit of Herrington remains unclear.
