Bradford crash leaves man useless and one other severely injured as automobile plunges 100ft off edge

A man has tragically lost his life and another has sustained serious injuries after a car crashed and plummeted from a height at a Bradford beauty spot, with police now appealing for witnesses.
Emergency services raced to Hawksworth Road in Baildon following reports that a vehicle had careered off the road. The Audi A3 convertible tumbled from the roadside near the well-known Baildon Moor area, with four occupants trapped inside the motor.
Specialist rescue teams and paramedics rushed to the scene, with several individuals transported to hospital following the smash. West Yorkshire Police confirmed officers were alerted at approximately 7.24pm on Monday, June 22, after reports that a vehicle had veered off the road close to the junction with Potter Brow Road.
The collision involved an Audi A3 convertible which careered off the carriageway and plunged down a steep embankment, with the motor believed to have travelled roughly 100 feet from the roadside.
Emergency crews, including specialist technical rescue firefighters and critical care paramedics, were deployed to the incident as they battled to assist at the scene.
A 20-year-old man tragically succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to hospital, while another man aged 23 remains in hospital with serious injuries. A second 23-year-old man received treatment for minor injuries, reports Yorkshire Live.
The motorist behind the wheel, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision in Bradford. Officers were called at 7.24pm yesterday (22 June) to Hawksworth Road, Baildon to reports one vehicle had left the road near the junction of Potter Brow Road. Four people were in the Audi A3 convertible.
“A man aged 20, sadly died from his injuries in hospital, another man aged 23 remains in hospital with serious injuries. A 23-year-old man was treated for minor injuries.
“The driver of the vehicle a man aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is in police custody. Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are carrying out enquiries.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the vehicle prior to the collision is asked to come forward.
“Officers are keen to see any dash-cam or mobile phone footage of the incident or the driving prior to the collision. Information can be given via 101 or using the live chat facility here quoting log 1698 of 22 June.
“Police are now appealing for anyone who saw the vehicle before the crash, witnessed the collision or has dashcam or mobile phone footage to contact them.
“Officers say any information could help establish the events leading up to the vehicle leaving the road. The investigation remains ongoing.”
