‘Cannibal’ admits to ‘accumulating our bodies from graveyards’ to eat them police say
A 30-year-old has told police he gathered bodies from cemeteries to collect and eat them after he was arrested on suspicion of illegal use of human bodies
A self-confessed cannibal has been arrested on suspicion of collecting human body parts he gathered from abandoned cemeteries and from his work at a hospital.
Detectives took the 30-year-old into custody after they got a tip he was allegedly storing human remains both at his place of work and at his home. Investigators from Hungary’s National Bureau of Investigation searched the man’s residence in Budapest, Hungary on June 17.
Authorities revealed they found body parts, bones and skin after searching the man’s apartment. Police revealed they seized skulls, a complete lower leg and a hand, as well as a reconstruction of a human face prepared from facial skin from the man’s home. They added other bones were also found stored in a suitcase. Officers have stated they found a heart in a jar and are still trying to determine if it is from a human or an animal.
During police questioning the man admitted to collecting body parts and claimed he was particularly attracted to certain parts of the human body. The man stated his obsession went beyond collecting body parts as he told investigators he prepared food from the human remains and ate them.
He is currently being held on suspicion of illegal use of human bodies. In a statement the police have said the man is “passionate about anatomy and pathology, and likes to dissect animals.”
Detectives added they suspect the man obtained the body parts during his work at hospitals and by digging up bodies “in abandoned cemeteries in Slovakia and Hungary.”
Authorities have stated the man’s computer, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, SIM and data cards have been seized.
All of the retrieved body parts are to be examined by forensic experts, police stated. They added a range of alleged crimes could expand after the origin of all the body parts is determined.
