Marco Pierre White restaurant and The Cube Hotel Birmingham ‘shut with instant impact’

A notice has been posted outside the hotel and steakhouse restaurant in Birmingham city centre following the appointment of administrators – it is understood workers only found out the news this week

A city hotel and restaurant have closed down suddenly. The Cube Hotel and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Birmingham city centre have shut down ‘with immediate effect’, according to a notice posted to customers today, June 23.

A sign displayed outside the hotel and rooftop restaurant – which have operated at The Cube for 15 years – appeared to confirm the abrupt closure of both venues. It read: “We regret to inform you that, with immediate effect, The Cube Hotel and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill Birmingham have ceased trading and are now closed.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause.” Anyone with enquiries regarding the closures were told to email thecubehotel@quantuma. com with their questions, reports Birmingham Live.

The notice added: “The affairs, business and property of MSHA Global Investments Limited (trading as The Cube Hotel) are managed by the joint administrators who act as agents of the company and contract without personal liability.”

The British steakhouse, which functioned under the Marco Pierre White brand through a licensing arrangement with the celebrity chef, was renowned for its 360-degree sweeping views of Birmingham from the 25th floor.

It had been a longstanding presence, alongside the 52-bedroom hotel, at The Cube situated within the Mailbox district.

Earlier this year, Insider Media reported that Knight Frank was appointed to sell the hotel, including the franchised restaurant, on behalf of joint administrators Richard Easterby and Nick Simmonds of Quantuma Advisory LTD.

A source revealed today that workers at the bar and grill were told about the abrupt shutdown this week.

The restaurant had stopped accepting reservations on its website when BirminghamLive looked this afternoon.

It remained unclear what would happen next with the empty floors at The Cube, with no sign whether fresh operators will assume control of the hotel or restaurant premises.

BirminghamLive has approached The Cube and the restaurant’s press office for comment.
