World Cup minnows let WAGs keep in gamers’ rooms as feminine workforce physician prescribes bonking

World Cup minnows Curacao have encouraged their players to share rooms with WAGs and bonk before matches to give them ’emotional support’ as they look to reach the knockout stage

World Cup minnows Curacao’s players have been encouraged to share rooms with their WAGs and bonk before matches to give them “emotional support”.

The tiny island in the southern Caribbean Sea are the smallest ever nation to qualify for the tournament, with a population of just over 150,000, but they have been more than pulling their weight in the tournament so far.

Curacao stunned the world by equalising against Germany in their first-ever World Cup game, when Livano Comenencia levelled the game after just 21 minutes. However, after they regrouped during one of the tournament’s controversial hydration breaks, the 2014 champions then went through the gears to win 7-1.

But the underdogs picked up their first point in a 0-0 draw against Ecuador last weekend and keep alive a small hope of qualifying for the knockout stages.

One of the team’s stars, goalkeeper Eloy Room, who has surpassed 1.1million Instagram followers thanks to his heroics between the sticks, has been supported by his stunning partner and one of the most glamorous WAGs at the tournament, Zo Room and her almost 800k followers.

With Dick Advocaat’s side still having everything to play for, their team doctor has urged the players to keep active and break in their hotel beds.

She said: “Players can stay with their team-mates in the same room and, when there are children, the family receives an additional room.

“It’s something quite unique in national team football. Curacao is a small country, with a very cheerful, warm and family-oriented people, something that reminds me a lot of Brazil.

“Yes, I believe sex helps, but perhaps more on the emotional side than for a direct physiological effect. In such a long tournament, having the family around reduces homesickness a little and brings tranquillity.”

Huurman added that Curacao’s unique situation as the smallest country means they don’t have the same level of financial support as the bigger footballing nations to shell out on accommodation for families.

She added: “Many of our players do not play at the highest levels of world football. For many families, it would be too expensive to travel and stay for weeks in the United States on their own.

“The federation decided to assume this cost so that the players can have their partners and children nearby. Some would probably be worried or stressed.”

Curacao play Ivory Coast in their final game in Group E and know a win would see them leapfrog their opponents and potentially finish second in the group.
