Eduardo Camavinga’s unwillingness to depart Real Madrid could pave the way for Manchester United to secure Aurelien Tchouameni, according to The Athletic, reports the Mirror.
Madrid’s incoming boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly eager to create room for a fresh creative midfielder – potentially Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez – by moving on at least one from the existing squad.
Fede Valverde remains off limits, while Dani Ceballos is apparently ready to depart on a free transfer despite having 12 months remaining on his present contract. With Camavinga viewing an exit as “impossible”, however, Tchouameni might still leave to help generate funds.
The Mail has this week identified Tchouameni as one of six midfielders on United’s target list to partner Ederson in a revamped midfield. The remaining five all currently feature in the Premier League: Tyler Adams, Carlos Baleba, Mateus Fernandes, Alex Scott and Adam Wharton.
Double departure plans take a twist
Senne Lammens’ impressive maiden campaign at Old Trafford has raised questions regarding the other shot-stoppers on United’s roster. Andre Onana and Radek Vitek have both been connected with transfers as they seek regular first-team action.
Onana spent the previous season on loan at Trabzonspor, with the Turkish outfit’s president Ertugrul Dogan expressing an interest in securing a permanent deal for the Cameroonian international.
However, according to Sabah, last season’s Super Lig third-place finishers have also started considering other options and may instead target Wolves’ goalkeeper Jose Sa.
As for Vitek, a standout year on loan at Bristol City has led some to speculate whether he might be promoted to become Lammens’ deputy next season.
New reports from The Mail suggest newly-promoted Premier League clubs Coventry, Hull and Ipswich are all vying for the Czech youngster. United are reportedly open to letting him go, while a return to Old Trafford for Sam Johnstone is among the potential scenarios as they seek an experienced understudy to Lammens next season.
