Top soccer star investigated over baby prostitution as he denies paying for intercourse

Inter Milan and Italy star Alessandro Bastoni is under investigation by police in his homeland as part of a probe into child prostitution and his lawyer has issued a statement

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is allegedly under investigation by Italian police for child prostitution, according to reports.

The centre-back is among the most highly-rated defenders in the world, with Real Madrid reportedly working on a deal to sign him. He also plays for the Italian national team. It’s reported by Gazetta dello Sport that he will be questioned in the coming days as part of a larger inquiry by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office into an alleged escort ring.

The company allegedly hosts all-inclusive parties and events which regularly entertain footballers and other VIPS.

Bastoni has been summoned to appear before prosecutors on Friday. He is alleged to have paid for sex with one of the girls, who was 17 at the time, in June 2020. Something he denies.

Because she was a minor at the time, paid sex would constitute child prostitution.

“My client is very shaken,” Bastoni’s lawyer, Salvatore Scuto, said. “I can rule out that he ever engaged in paid sexual relations, let alone with minors.”

Italian newspaper Gazzetta reports the girl has already been questioned and while she has admitted to staying at Bastoni’s house she denies having sex with the player.

Bastoni is the first footballer under investigation as part of the probe, which is investigating the network.

It was reported by Italian newspaper Il Giorno, that they had uncovered the Ma.De events company in Cinisello Balsamo as an alleged front for the agency.

Around 70 names were tied to the exclusive events, including players for AC Milan, Inter Milan and other Serie A clubs, as well as athletes from other sports.

It’s not known if anyone who attended the events was involved in soliciting prostitution or committing any crimes.

It is the culmination of a nightmare few months for the 27-year-old, who was sent off during Italy’s crucial World Cup qualifying playoff against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Azzurri went on to lose a penalty shootout and miss out on a third straight World Cup.

Bastoni and his family were also abused on social media after an incident while playing for Inter in February against fierce rival Juventus. Bastoni appeared to dive in a successful attempt to get an opposition player sent off.
