England will play their first knockout game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday (July 1) when they face DR Congo in Atlanta. A win will send Thomas Tuchel’s side through to the round of 16, and ahead of kick-off, Amazon is offering an alternative way to watch some of the tournament’s biggest matches.
This World Cup represents the largest ever, featuring 48 nations competing in a record 104 fixtures across 39 days of football. Many games, including Belgium vs Senegal (July 1) and Argentina vs Cape Verde (July 3), can be streamed for free on Prime Video’s ITVX channel.
Amazon’s streaming service is broadcasting more than 50 key fixtures throughout the competition, including must-win knockout ties and the final on July 19. Prime Video also provides a catch-up facility with complete matches available to stream on demand, enabling subscribers to view games that kicked off overnight.

All Prime Video content can be streamed across devices, including smart TVs, smartphones, tablets or laptops, allowing football fans to carry the World Cup with them during their daily commute or on holiday.
World Cup viewers can secure access to Prime Video’s World Cup programming without spending a penny through a seven-day free trial of ITVX Premium. Following the promotional period, ITVX Premium will automatically renew at the standard £5.99 monthly rate until cancelled, reports the Daily Star.

Prime Video is offering live and on-demand games from the FIFA World Cup for free with a seven-day trial of ITVX Premium, which also includes highlights of every game and full classic matches.
After the free trial, ITVX Premium will renew at the usual £5.99 per month, providing access to the biggest knockout games through to the final on July 19.
However, it’s worth bearing in mind that some Prime Video programmes may not be available to viewers outside the UK. Also, England vs DR Congo will be broadcast exclusively across the BBC on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Posting on X, one viewer said: “ITV [is] in a different league. It’s not even close.” Another said: “ITV coverage of the World Cup has been great and the highlights are amazing.”
However, the same fan questioned the choice of commentators, adding: “Why for the matches we can’t watch live are you having the best commentators like Drury, Alan Smith, but on prime time matches where we watch live, it’s Dixon.”
While another said: “ITV’s coverage has really been much better than the BBC for this tournament.”
