Chelsea WAG makes Real Madrid switch stance clear after enormous denial

Enzo Fernandez has been constantly linked with a Chelsea transfer exit this summer, and his girlfriend, Valentina Cervantes, has now spoken out on the speculation

Enzo Fernandez’s partner, Valentina Cervantes, has revealed she is comfortable with whatever choice the Chelsea star makes about his future this summer.

The central midfielder has been heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge, with his representative, Javier Pastore, fuelling rumours by hinting that Fernandez is weighing up his options to depart the club. Yet it was emphasised that his attention is presently on Argentina’s ongoing World Cup campaign.

Speaking while in North America backing Fernandez, Cervantes has made clear her stance on any possible move. She also indicated that staying in England with Chelsea remains on the table.

Speaking to El Chiringuito, she said: “No, honestly, it’s fine. My son was born in England, and they go to school there, so I’m very happy. Any team is fine with me. Whichever team it is, I’ll be fine.”

When pressed if Real Madrid would be different, she added: “No, for me, the teams are the same.”

The comments come after the Spanish giants confirmed they are not in talks to sign the midfielder, despite speculation connecting them with the player. “In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding an alleged interest from Real Madrid CF in the player Enzo Fernandez, the club wishes to state that it has not made any effort, either direct or indirect, to sign the aforementioned player and, likewise, has no intention of undertaking such an operation,” they said on their club website.

“Real Madrid wishes to express its utmost respect for Enzo Fernandez, a great footballer whose career and quality are widely known, as well as for Chelsea FC, a club with which it maintains an excellent institutional relationship.

“Precisely because of the respect that an entity like Chelsea FC deserves and because of the principles of institutional loyalty that have always governed the actions of Real Madrid, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny speculations that are unfounded and do not correspond to reality.

“Real Madrid regrets that, despite the clarity of the facts and the lack of any action on the part of the club, information continues to be disseminated that does not correspond to reality and that only contributes to generating confusion among fans and unnecessarily harming the entities and people involved.”

Fernandez joined Chelsea in a £107million transfer from Benfica in January 2023, and his contract is set to run until 2032.

The 25-year-old will be back on World Cup duty on Tuesday evening (5pm BST) as his team take on Egypt in the last-16 round. Argentina booked their place in this stage following a thrilling 3-2 extra-time win over Cape Verde.
