Man ‘used dwell seagull as weapon’ to assault shocked passer-by

A man has been charged after allegedly snatching a live seagull off the street in a Scottish town and using the bird to attack a shocked passer-by

A man has been slapped with charges following a bizarre incident where he allegedly used a live seagull as a weapon to assault a stunned pedestrian. Cops scrambled to Queens Park Place, near Station Square, in the Scottish seaside town of Oban, after horrified onlookers raised the alarm around 5pm on Saturday, June 27.

According to The Oban Times, the suspect reportedly snatched two of the seaside birds straight off the street before wielding one of them to launch an attack on a helpless member of the public.

British gulls are already notorious for their aggressive antics, usually involving stealing chips, terrorising beachgoers, and mugging tourists for their ice cream.

However, this is one of the rare instances where a human has allegedly turned the tables, weaponising the notoriously feisty birds against a fellow human.

In an unexpected twist, there was no evidence to suggest that either of the gulls suffered any injuries during the chaotic swoop.

While the man wasn’t arrested on the spot, officers escorted him home while they carried out further investigations into the feathered fracas.

He was officially charged at a later date. A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed the surreal avian assault.

They said: “A man was charged in connection with an assault on Queen’s Park Place in Oban which was reported to police around 5pm on Saturday June 27, 2026.”

They added: “A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Because the incident took place north of the border, the case will be handled by Scotland’s unique legal system.
