Danny Murphy reveals Bob the Cat half 3 as runaway was rehomed for ‘bullying sister’

Former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy has turned his Bob the Cat story into a trilogy with revealing more about World Cup fan’s favourite runaway feline

Danny Murphy has surprised BBC World Cup viewers turning into Portugal vs Spain with a update on the seemingly never-ending tale of Bob the Cat – with a shocking twist claiming he was a ‘bully’.

The legend of his runway pet first came about when Erling Haaland and Norway won against Ivory Coast last Tuesday night (June 30) when he bizarrely began talking about his cat named Bob.

As Fulham star Oscar Bobb was subbed on for Norway on the 72nd minute, Murphy was heard telling BBC commentator Steve Bower about his former cat pal. Murphy continued: “Yeah he jumped in the back of a Royal Mail van and we lost him.” And with incredible comedic timing added: “Sad, really.”

Bizarrely in time of Messi’s heroics and shock upsets, Murphy’s cat tales have been sweeping the minds of fans of social media. In the last update during Spain vs Austria, Murphy revealed his runway cat did return home but was never the same.

The emotional rollercoaster also confirmed the sad news that Bob was rehomed and has now passed away. However, the fact that Murphy gave up the cat because he was “feral” after being missing for “six or seven weeks” was seen as controversial by some.

Murphy said: “Surprisingly there was a lot of interest… we did get him back six or seven weeks later. Unfortunately he had gone feral and we couldn’t reintegrate him in the home and he ended up living with my friend’s parents in Preston.

“That was the life he had and now he has passed away, unfortunately. Thanks for all the concern those who have been messaging us.”

Now the third instalment of a trilogy compared by some as epic as Lord of Rings, Murphy has defended his decision to rehome Bob and said he was “bullying” his sister, Mary.

In tonight’s game involving Portugal and Spain, he said: “It is a little but unfair. A little bit harsh. Just to clarify, we did try and settle him back into the house, but he started bullying and fighting his sister Mary.

“So we made the decision to give him the red card and send him up the road to Preston. I think it was the right decision. I was between a rock and a hard place. What can I say.”

BBC commentator Bower was also alongside Murphy tonight and ended the conversation with a joke of the former Blackburn star adding new characters to the cat-verse with Sister Mary.

As always X reacted to the story comparing Bob’s tale to “the cat version of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.
