Aussie PM praises Japan chief’s ‘beautiful melons’ after Kylie Minogue ‘s**g’ storm
Anthony Albanese – who admitted he would s**g Kylie Minogue – has now been accused of making ‘disrespectful remarks’ about Japan’s first female PM
Australian PM Anthony Albanese has been accused of making “disrespectful remarks” about Japan’s first female prime minister, Sanae Takaichi.
He appeared on the Bush Deep podcast last Friday where he revealed he had been gifted “royal melons” from Takaichi during her state visit to the country.
She presented him with a pair of Shizuoka-grown melons in celebration of Australia reopening its market to Japanese melon imports.
During the podcast host Nikki Osborne jokingly asked if Takaichi had smuggled them into the country, making a hand gesture and referring to Pamela Anderson.
Albanese replied: “Got a couple of melons,” copying the suggestive action around his chest.
‘She brought two, as you do … and they’re beautiful.”
Osborne is best known for her crude comedy sketches posted on Youtube and launched her podcast earlier this year. She describes herself as a “wildly inappropriate journalist” who asks “questions no one else would dare.”
Opposition communications spokeswoman Sarah Henderson called for Albanese to apologise to Takaichi for the remarks calling the comments “crude locker room talk.”
It comes after Albanese was forced to apologise after admitting he wanting to ‘s**g’ Kylie Minogue. He was asked to choose between Kylie, Nicole Kidman and Rhonda Burchmore, in a celebrity game of ‘shag, marry, date.’
Albanese – who wed his partner Jodie Haydon back in November – initially tried to dodge the question, saying: ‘I’ve just got married. I’m only six months in.’
‘But if it goes tits up?’ Osborne asked.
‘Kylie, clearly,’ he replied.
‘You’d marry Kylie? And shag her? And date her?’ questioned Osborne.
‘All of the above,’ replied Albanese. ‘She’s terrific.’
In a short statement on Monday, the PM said: “I apologise unequivocally for the comments.”
Richard Marles, who has stepped up as acting prime minister while Albanese is on a visit to the Pacific, stated the government is “utterly committed” to the elevation of women.
Speaking to ABC Marles stated: “From time to time, we obviously do different interviews to the one we are doing now, but I think the other point to make here is that the government that the PM leads is the first in history that has had equality in terms of the number of men and women in cabinet.”
