BBC World Cup host Gabby Logan can’t purchase garments with out an imaginary microphone in her hand
Ahead of the World Cup final which she will be hosting Gabby Logan has revealed how tricky it is finding a wardrobe that matches her microphone stance, so she brings an imaginary one

BBC World Cup host Gabby Logan can’t buy clothes without an imaginary microphone in her hand.
The Match Of The Day star has been presenting at major sporting events across four decades, and as a result she has to tailor her wardrobe to match each telly job. More importantly it’s got to work with her mic stance.
Gabby explained: “When I’m trying clothes on I use an imaginary microphone.
“So my husband – it drives him insane – I go, ‘do you like this coat?’ And I stand there with an imaginary microphone because everything has to get worn for work first then it gets relegated to the normal (wardrobe).

“Because if I’m trying a new coat on, half the time I’m outdoors in the cold doing my job, and the coat might look good on the hanger, but then if you tried broadcasting in it, it’s a whole (different thing).”
Gabby will have picked out something special for this weekend as she will front the BBC ’s coverage of the World Cup Final on Sunday, becoming the first women to do so.
However, she has slightly more modest professional ambitions involving the sitcom Ted Lasso.
She told the Romesh Ranganathan Show: “I’m a bit annoyed. I do like Ted Lasso and I have been quite annoyed from the very start that I haven’t had a cameo.

“(Sports host)Rebecca Lowe’s had one, Gary’s had one (Lineker). And they also told me that I used to live in a house in Chiswick and he (Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis) stayed in my old house. He was renting my old house in Chiswick.
“I didn’t own it anymore, obviously. And I go to Richmond all the time to get my hair done. And Richmond has become Ted Lasso Alley.
There’s an alleyway that has got the Ted Lasso shop. American tourists just hang out there. I feel so close to it.
“I’m on the precipice of a phone call coming in anytime soon.”
