English WAG is supporting Argentina at World Cup – regardless of enjoying for her nation
The England football star has switched allegiances to Argentina for this summer’s World Cup but she has a reason for the unthinkable decision
The English partner of Tottenham and Argentina star Marcos Senesi has been cheering on La Albiceleste at the World Cup.
This is despite her hailing from Fareham, Hampshire and even playing for the Lionesses. Kelci-Rose Bowers, 22, is a footballer in her own right, having recently left Bournemouth. She has spent most of her life in the UK, playing for Chelsea and Southampton as a youngster.
The defender has been spotted wearing Argentina-affiliated clothing at several matches throughout this summer’s tournament as she backs Senesi, 29, who is part of Lionel Scaloni’s squad.

However, Bowers’ loyalties will be tested like never before when England take on their old rivals on Wednesday evening in Atlanta for a place in the World Cup final.
Bowers’ Instagram features several posts where she has firmly nailed her colours to the mast. One post saw her asking her legion of 335,000 followers which Argentina jersey she should wear ahead of the country’s group stage victory over Austria.
Against Egypt in the round of 16, which Argentina controversially won 3-2, Bowers was sporting blue denim jeans and a matching Argentina-inspired denim jacket. After the game, she posted a photo dump of herself at the stadium and with Senesi.
She wrote: “About yesterday… It’s hard to put into words, something we have all dreamed about, you never fail to make us all so proud, wherever you are, we follow!” while Senesi responded: “Thank you for always being there xx love you!”
She was again decked out in blue and white on Sunday as Argentina saw off Switzerland, 3-1, in the quarter-finals to set up a last-four clash with the Three Lions. Again, she accompanied the post with the caption: “About yesterday.”
Senesi has only featured for his nation once so far. He played 90 minutes in a 3-0 win against Jordan in the final group stage game.
Her pivot to supporting Argentina might not go down too well with England fans with there being a fierce history between the two nations. In 2022, Bowers, who played for her country at under-21 level, posted a photo of herself lining up for the English women’s national side and captioned it: “Always an honour to wear this shirt.”
After a period in the USA playing for Louisiana State University, Bowers returned to the UK, settling in Portsmouth. She then joined Bournemouth, where she met former Cherries centre-half Senesi.
Senesi moved to Spurs on a free transfer this summer. The centre-back was a late recruit to Argentina’s World Cup squad after Leonardo Balerdi was ruled out through injury.
Bowers joined the Cherries on loan for the 2023-24 season before making the move permanent. She made 70 appearances and scored 11 times.
During her time on the South Coast, she won the FA Women’s National League Division One South West title, the National League Plate and the National League Cup. On June 5, Bournemouth confirmed Bowers would leave the club.
