Liverpool information: Club chief speaks out on star’s future as switch sealed
Liverpool’s two new signings have joined up with Andoni Iraola’s squad for pre-season and the Reds are still looking to land a marquee signing or two
Liverpool are yet to land a blockbuster signing this transfer window but with every day that Reds are getting closer to landing a marquee replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Andoni Iraola’s squad will soon be jetting off for a pre-season tour of the United States the two new arrivals, Spain winger and World Cup finalist Victor Munoz, and £60million centre-back Jeremy Jacquet have also linked up with the team.
However, some high-profile stars have departed this summer. Andy Robertson has moved to Tottenham following the end of his contract, while Ibrahima Konate’s deal also expired, paving the way for him to join Real Madrid. The departure of Mohamed Salah is still yet to be replaced as the Reds chase multiple targets. Here, the Daily Star Sport brings you the latest Reds transfer news.
Mohamed Salah MLS update
Salah’s next move remains somewhat uncertain, but it appears that Major League Soccer clubs are leading the race. Sporting Kansas City, in particular, has been mentioned.
During a press conference this week, the club’s president of soccer operations, David Lee, was asked if his team were eyeing Salah, and he did not dismiss the idea.
Lee said: “I’m not going to share anything on individual players, whether those players are under contract or not. I’m not going to get into the habit of talking about individual players.
“We are interested in really good players. So anyone we think can be a fit for us and is going to fit what we would like to do, we have an interest in and would like to have a conversation with.”
Former Reds defender secures move to France
A different ex-Liverpool player has secured a new club after becoming available on a free transfer this summer. Yasser Larouci joined the Reds in 2017 from Le Havre and featured in the 2019 FA Youth Cup-winning squad.
The wing-back was handed his debut by Jurgen Klopp in 2020 when he replaced the injured James Milner from the substitutes’ bench during an FA Cup victory over Everton. He struggled to establish himself in the senior setup though and departed in 2021 without a fee.
Larouci subsequently returned to France with Troyes and has since had temporary spells at Sheffield United, Watford and Greek club Kifisia across recent campaigns.
His Troyes contract ran down this summer and he has now signed terms with Le Mans. The French outfit earned promotion to Ligue 1 last season and Larouci represents their third summer acquisition.
