Who is Argentina anthem singer at World Cup remaining who ‘made US followers like soccer’
Argentine singer-songwriter María Becerra stole the show at the World Cup final as football fans rushed to social media to learn more about the stunner
It has taken the World Cup final to get American football fans to “like soccer” – but it had nothing to do with the football.
Instead, as Argentina and Spain lined up for the biggest game in football, Argentine singer-songwriter María Becerra stole the show thanks to her drop-dead gorgeous looks. Draped in the colours of her nation, Maria sang the Argentina national anthem.
And her performance left fans scrambling to social media to learn more about this mystery singer. With one fan even taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to joke: “The Argentina national anthem singer made me like soccer!”

“The Argentine singer is a goddess,” a second said. While a third shared: “Wow that Argentina singer was amazing! I’ve found my wife!”
“Well seems like they chose the right singer for the Argentina national anthem,” a fourth declared. As a fifth said: “Argentine singer I was #moved…”
And another joked: “María Becerra performs Argentina’s anthem. I thought they’d bring Nicki Nicole to Yamal or that Tini would sing it since she’s De Paul’s partner!”
Born and raised in Quilmes, just south of Buenos Aires, Maria started her singing career online – where she would post covers to YouTube.
In 2019, she landed her first top ten hit before signing her first record deal with 300 Entertainment in 2020 – where she has released two albums with her third scheduled for this year.
As the “leading voice in Argentina’s urban pop movement”, Maria was the first Argentine woman to perform at the River Plate Stadium.
“It was, wow, it was a big experience,” Maria told Hola. “I think the most important experience in my whole life. It was so stressful, too.”
Rainfall had caused a power outage, leaving Maria in tears backstage: “I was crying behind the screen like ‘No!’ This is the most important show in my life and this is happening to me right now? I can’t believe it.”
However, the gig was a success: “I came out like a diva, and all the people loved me!”
