As the FIFA World Cup draws to a close, football supporters will be shifting their focus to the upcoming Premier League season. The 2026/27 campaign is merely weeks away and the fixtures for the opening weekend have now been revealed.
There are some massive clashes to launch the season in August, with reigning champions Arsenal getting things started when they welcome Championship winners Coventry City. Newly-promoted Hull City will also be thrust straight into the spotlight when they take on Man City in their opening fixture.
There have been some significant personnel shake-ups both on and off the field, with Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea now under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, Andoni Iraola and Xabi Alonso respectively. When does the 2026/27 Premier League season start?
The 2026/27 Premier League season will commence on Friday, August 21. All 20 clubs will be in action throughout the weekend until Monday, August 24.

How to watch the 2026/27 Premier League season on TV
As usual, Sky Sports will serve as the main broadcaster of the Premier League in the UK, with no fewer than 215 matches shown live and exclusively throughout the campaign. Sky has already announced it will broadcast six fixtures during the opening weekend including Arsenal vs Coventry, Man City vs Bournemouth and Newcastle vs Liverpool.
To view these and the numerous games on Sky next season, supporters will require a Sky Sports subscription. This comes included with certain Sky packages such as the £44 Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, which also delivers complimentary subscriptions to Netflix, HBO Max and Disney+.
Sky Sports, HBO Max, Netflix and Disney+ with Ultimate TV package
Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.
Current Sky TV customers can incorporate Sky Sports into their package from £20 per month. A drawback is that most Sky packages demand 24-month contracts, during which time the price ‘may change’.
TNT Sports will also show select Premier League games on TV and its new streaming home of HBO Max. TNT usually has the broadcast rights to one fixture each gameweek, with Hull vs Man United the first to be shown next season.
Fans will need a separate TNT Sports subscription to watch its coverage, which costs £30.99 via HBO Max or Prime Video’s TNT Sports channel.
How to get tickets to 2026/27 Premier League games
Premier League clubs will handle their own allocation of tickets for home and away games, with match tickets and season tickets available directly from the respective box office. However, fans can still book a seat to watch their favourite team through other official channels such as Seat Unique.

In addition to premium seats at the league’s top clubs, Seat Unique packages also offer additional perks such as access to exclusive lounge areas, complimentary food and drink, and the chance to mingle with current and former players. However, these benefits differ between each club, so fans should verify exactly what’s included before making a booking.
There are some points to be mindful of as well, as certain packages grant access to neutral hospitality zones where rival supporters may be present. Also, single tickets are not available for some packages and must be booked in groups.
