Dad-of-two who filmed ladies by means of home windows at evening admits 26 voyeurism costs

A dad-of-two who secretly recorded women through their home windows during the night has confessed to a series of voyeurism offences, as police urged dozens of potential victims to step forward.
Anthony Durkan, 36, from Islington, North London, admitted guilt to 19 voyeurism charges at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The crimes he confessed to all took place last year, except for one incident on January 12, 2020.
This came on top of guilty pleas he had already entered for seven voyeurism charges on March 26 at the same court — taking the total count of offences to 26.

Prosecutor Edward Kalber described Durkan, who has two children, as someone who “poses a real risk to women and girls in our communities”. Mr Kalber informed the court: “He was filming them in their private residences in various states of undress.”
The Metropolitan Police revealed they are working to trace further victims after uncovering a concealed gallery on his mobile device “containing hundreds of images and videos of women”.
Officers have issued an appeal to women across north London who might have “noticed unusual activity around their home, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning” between January 2020 and March 2026.

Police revealed a woman contacted officers in January 2026 after an unidentified man repeatedly visited her Islington home and filmed through her windows in the early morning hours. The woman was tipped off by her neighbour, who had spotted a man clad entirely in black and donning a balaclava approaching the property.
The man was observed holding his mobile phone up to windows, seemingly filming inside, before departing — with the incidents caught on the neighbour’s doorbell camera.
In March 2026, police were summoned to another address in Islington, following a report from a woman who claimed she’d also seen a man filming her through her window. She confronted the suspect, who promptly fled, with this incident too being recorded on a security camera.

On March 25, an undercover officer watched a man approach a property and repeat the same suspicious behaviour. Police stated he was apprehended just moments later outside the property and identified as Durkan.
The force revealed that a review of his mobile phone exposed a hidden gallery “containing hundreds of images and videos of women”, adding there’s no evidence any of the women knew they were being filmed.
A search of Durkan’s home led officers to confiscate five additional mobile devices and a small camera for further investigation.

Dressed in a white jacket and jeans, Durkan entered his guilty pleas on Tuesday afternoon. Durkan was granted conditional bail and will be sentenced at a yet-to-be-determined date at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger, who headed the investigation team, stated: “Durkan’s offending represented a serious and sustained course of predatory behaviour, deliberately targeting women who were entirely unaware they were being filmed, without their consent and in the privacy of their own homes.
“I want to thank the women who had the courage to come forward and report Durkan’s crimes. Their reports, supported by witnesses and swift investigative work, enabled officers to act decisively and arrest Durkan during a proactive patrol.
“This conviction reflects the severity of these crimes and means a dangerous individual has been brought to justice, preventing further harm to women.”
A representative for the Metropolitan Police said: “Examination of Durkan’s seized devices uncovered extensive evidence of further voyeurism offences, prompting detectives to review historic crime reports where no suspect had been identified and all viable lines of enquiry exhausted.
“This led to Durkan being linked to offences dating back to January 2020. Detectives are now working to identify additional victims. Officers are particularly keen to hear from women in Islington and north London between January 2020 and March 2026 who may have noticed unusual activity around their home, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
“Members of the public are also asked to report suspicious behaviour, such as someone lingering near residential properties, looking through windows, or using a phone or camera. Footage captured on doorbell or CCTV cameras could prove vital.”
