Liverpool are in desperate need of new signings as fans will be hoping the Merseyside giants step up their summer transfer window business this week.
Arne Slot’s understocked and unbalanced squad underwhelmed last season with a disappointing fifth-placed finish as they failed to mount any credible defence of their Premier League title. Despite spending some £450m on new signings last summer including expensive flops Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, the club also sanctioned £260m of sales, with key stars such as Luis Diaz sold and not replaced, while sporting director Ricard Hughes failed to sign an experienced centre-back.
New manager Andoni Iraola has two new additions so far – Spain’s World Cup winning winger Victor Munoz and young French centre-back Jeremy Jacquet – but first team talent Ibrahima Konate has left on a free transfer, meaning new signings are imperative. Here’s all the latest news from Anfield.

Liverpool confirm fresh addition
Alejandro Rosalen has been rubber-stamped as Liverpool’s new first-team goalkeeping coach, replacing Spanish compatriot Xavi Valero after his shock exit.
Rosalen has switched to the Reds after a five-year stint with Napoli, during which he played a part in two Serie A title triumphs, in 2022/23 and 2024/25, reports the Mirror.

His journey started at Valencia before a single campaign in Hungary with Videoton. He enjoyed an eight-year spell with Fiorentina prior to accepting the role at Napoli in 2021.
Valero informed Liverpool before the end of last season that he wanted to depart, just 12 months after returning to the club from West Ham. According to The Athletic, his departure was unconnected to Arne Slot’s sacking and was a mutual agreement.
Valero had been part of Rafael Benitez’s coaching team at Anfield between 2007 and 2010. Following stints at Inter, Chelsea, Napoli and Real Madrid, he spent seven years at the Hammers, before being brought back to Anfield by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes last summer.

In a statement on the club’s website, Liverpool said: “Alejandro Rosalen has been appointed as Liverpool’s new first-team goalkeeping coach. The 49-year-old Spaniard joins Andoni Iraola’s backroom staff, replacing Xavi Valero, who has now departed the Reds after a second spell with the club in 2025-26.
“Rosalen arrives on Merseyside with a wealth of experience as a goalkeeper coach. His most recent position was at Serie A side Napoli, from 2021 to this summer. While there, Rosalen contributed to Napoli lifting the Scudetto on two occasions (2022-23 and 2024-25).
“He had previously spent eight years with Fiorentina in Italy, a period that followed a single season at Hungarian outfit Videoton. Rosalen’s coaching career had begun in Valencia’s academy, where he stayed for eight years.”
Transfer U-turn

Liverpool transfer target Yan Diomande was reportedly understood to have struck personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain as early as June.
Yet crucially, no deal exists between the European champions and the Ivory Coast winger’s club RB Leipzig, with the German outfit still harbouring hopes of retaining the teenager.
Despite PSG seemingly making it plain to Leipzig that they could meet the 19-year-old’s reported £86.8million valuation, the Bundesliga side remained steadfast.
Fabrizio Romano has now suggested numerous other clubs are still attempting to hijack the move that would take Diomande to PSG, which might prompt the player to reconsider his commitment to the Ligue 1 giants.
Nevertheless, it remains uncertain whether Liverpool have rekindled their pursuit of the star, who bagged 12 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga last campaign.

Speculation linking Liverpool with Bradley Barcola refuses to fade, as the winger remains the subject of transfer talk regarding a potential departure from PSG.
With merely two years left on his contract and a possible eagerness to quit the club, there exists a window of opportunity for any side prepared to pursue his signature.
According to David Ornstein on the Athletic FC podcast, any transfer for the 23-year-old won’t come at a bargain price.
He saaid: “Bradley Barcola has been mentioned, but we don’t know of active movements from Arsenal on Barcola at this moment in time. Barcola is a player Liverpool really like… PSG’s standpoint is that they do not want to sell him, they would like to keep him, they’d like to renew him.
“Even if they are to sell him, the price in their mind would be higher – considerably, I think – than, say, Elliot Anderson’s move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City (£116m) because this is a player who has won Champions Leagues, competed at the highest level for club and country, scores goals, assists goals, you have got to pay the market rate.
“He does have two years to go on his contract, he doesn’t appear to be signing, he appears to be open to moving.”
