Two women have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following the death of a pensioner in an incident within a block of flats.
Police were summoned to Cedar House, a sheltered housing complex on Foxwood Drive, Stockton, around 2:44am today – Tuesday, July 21 – by paramedics. A man, thought to be in his seventies, was tragically declared dead at the scene. Two women, aged 41 and 54, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
They are currently being held in police custody while investigations proceed. While formal identification is still pending, the man’s family has been notified, and specially trained officers are providing them with support.

Detective Chief Inspector John Bonner, from Cleveland Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET), stated: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
“We are working as quickly as possible to establish the circumstances of what happened, however, at this time we do believe that this was a targeted incident which took place inside a block of flats.”, reports Teesside Live.
“We would like to appeal to anyone who may have attended Cedar House at any point yesterday in the late evening or into the early hours of this morning – who may have seen anything out of the ordinary or seen anyone behaving suspiciously.

“Those people are asked to contact Cleveland Police as quickly as possible.”
