Brits could be in for another searing summer spell, with long-range weather charts turning bright red and indicating mercury spikes as high as 37C in August. A massive plume of warm air is threatening to bake at least 16 English counties in heat over 30C.
Official Met Office guidance points toward typical or above-average temperatures stretching into the start of August, noting that conditions have the potential to turn “very warm again” as the new month kicks off.
However, experts urge caution closer to the end of July, predicting a mix of sunshine and scattered showers before any fresh heatwave takes hold.

Advanced forecast models flag August 7 as the potential peak of the sizzle, with a widespread swathe of England pushing beyond 30C, reports the Express. By contrast, the coolest regions across the UK are expected to hover around a much milder 18C.
Data from the GFS weather model reveals that on August 7, large parts of southern and eastern England could be more than 5C hotter than historical averages set between 1991 and 2020.
Discussing the upcoming weather trends, the Met Office said: “The key message is that further heatwaves are possible but not guaranteed.

“The longer-range outlook indicates that temperatures are likely to be above average overall, with a risk of hot weather and heatwaves later in August.”
Meteorologists point out that official heatwave status requires more than just one scorching day in the sun.
To formally declare a heatwave, temperatures must meet or surpass regional heat thresholds for three consecutive days – boundaries that differ depending on where you are in the country.
Looking further ahead into its August 5 to August 19 outlook, the Met Office notes high pressure is likely to take charge, ushering in dry, settled conditions, particularly across southern regions.
Although northern areas could still see light rain or the occasional summer thunderstorm, high pressure should keep temperatures above average overall, keeping the door open for extra heat spells later in the month.
