A beloved TikTok influencer has been discovered dead after being reported missing, leaving thousands of fans heartbroken by the tragic news.

Michael Selwood, affectionately known to mates and supporters as “Mikey,” had been reported missing over the weekend, sparking police to issue an urgent public appeal for information about his location.

Tragically, officers confirmed he had been discovered dead at approximately 5pm on Sunday (July 19). His relatives have been notified and are receiving support from specially trained officers, while police have declined to reveal any additional details regarding his death, as reported by Need To Know. He vanished in the Tameside area of Greater Manchester.

A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) spokesperson stated: “Officers searching for Michael found him deceased.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared and supported this appeal.”

Michael had cultivated a substantial social media presence, gathering over 22,500 followers on one of his TikTok accounts, where he shared content about boxing and responding to viral trends.

Following news of his passing, his social media profiles have been flooded with heartfelt tributes from mates and admirers.

One supporter described Michael as possessing a “heart of gold” and called the news of his death “absolutely devastating.”

She expressed that her thoughts were with his children, his extended family, and his two dogs, Rockie and Bonnie, whom she said he “never gave up on” even after experiencing homelessness.

A Facebook page has been created to organise a balloon release in honour of Michael, scheduled for Saturday (July 25) in Dukinfield, near Tameside.
