A British mum-of-two has been charged after an alleged £5.7m worth of ketamine was discovered in the boot of a car she had rented with her boyfriend. Demi McDaid, 23, was arrested in Australia alongside her boyfriend Jack Farrelly, 30, after police allegedly found 107kg of ketamine in their vehicle.
The couple, both from Scotland, were arrested at a hotel in Sydney on 26 June following a raid by officers from New South Wales Police (NSWP), as reported by The Daily Record. During the operation, police also reportedly discovered a number of mobile phones inside the rental car along with over $2,000 in cash and documents believed to be drug ledgers.
Another police search at a holiday rental on Hampden Road in the suburb of Artarmon revealed an additional 2kg of ketamine. McDaid and Farrelly have been charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug – one larger than an indictable quantity and one larger than a commercial quantity.

The pair appeared at Manly Local Court last month, where they were both denied bail and ordered to reappear in the Downing Centre Local Court on 25 August.

Officers pounced after local tip-offs alerted detectives to the activities at a rented unit. The force revealed that the duo’s scheme was foiled thanks to a blend of “good old-fashioned police work” from senior detectives and the tech-savvy skills of younger team members.
The drugs are believed to have an estimated street value of AUD$11 million – approximately £5.7million. In photos released by the police, the couple’s hire car can be seen crammed with bags of the drug in Sydney.

Additional images depict stacks of ketamine piled high following the astonishing seizure. Meanwhile, prior to their move to Australia, McDaid filmed herself flaunting designer bags and boasting about Farrelly flying her out to an undisclosed location.
In the video, the mum is seen posing in an airport alongside a Chanel handbag and a Louis Vuitton holdall.
