Meghan Markle’s stint on MasterChef Australia has smashed a new record, even after being slammed by experts. The Duchess of Sussex graced the 18th season of the culinary programme as a guest judge on Sunday, where contestants were tasked with turning a basic ingredient into a dish “fit for a duchess”.
She joined MasterChef Australia judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli. The ratings for the latest episode have been unveiled and they paint an interesting picture. Sunday’s MasterChef Australia instalment pulled in a total of 1.6 million “Total TVT viewers.
It set a new record for the largest overnight Sunday audience since July 2023 and the highest-ever overnight streaming audience, with 118,000 viewers, according to data released by broadcaster Network 10. It also topped the seven-day Total Viewing audience with 1.22 million national viewers, reports the Express.

Meghan’s episode saw a 16% surge in its national Total TV audience compared to the same episode the previous year. Total TV is a unique metric used in Australia to gauge viewing across screens and combines traditional linear broadcast television with digital broadcast video-on-demand (BVOD) viewing.
Channel Seven’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow took the top spot with a total of 2.5 million Total TV viewers and Channel Nine’s Lego Masters attracted 1.7 million viewers.
It comes after a professional chef slammed Meghan, and her appearance. Jameson Stocks told The News International that he was left questioning why she was even there in the first place.

He said: “When it comes to cooking, she contributes absolutely nothing – it’s all complete nonsense. Unless the contestants are somehow inspired by her sliced fruit, I honestly can’t understand why she’s there.
“She has absolutely zero credentials to be even near a stove never mind Masterchef – Masterchef is a program to inspire the next generation or inspire people to do better showcase themselves through food – she’s about as inspiring as a out of date chicken.”
He also launched a scathing attack on Meghan’s Netflix show“If her show has been nominated for an Emmy, I’d hate to see the competition. It is among the biggest loads of nonsense Netflix has ever produced – so embarrassing that it’s hard to believe they would pay her for it. It’s a horrendous, slow, lethargic, egotistical pile of trash”.
