Liverpool stars in livid confrontation on pitch as team-mates attempt to cease spat
Curtis Jones was spotted in a heated argument with Dominik Szoboszlai and Kostas Tsimikas after Liverpool’s win over Wrexham, which saw the latter furiously throw the captain’s armband on the floor
Liverpool stars were involved in a heated spat following their pre-season victory over Wrexham as team-mates had to act as peacemakers.
Curtis Jones was in the thick of a fiery exchange with Kostas Tsimikas and Dominik Szoboszlai, seemingly over the captain’s armband. The 25-year-old, who has been linked with an exit from Anfield, was seen pointing and gesturing at the Hungarian midfielder, as he seemed to grow frustrated as Szoboszlai attempted to calm him down.
The clip subsequently shows Tsmikas then throw the captain’s armband on the floor in front of Liverpool fans, seeing Jones and Szoboszlai waft their arms in the air in an exasperated fashion.

Jones then picked the armband up off the floor and hugged Szoboszlai as the midfielder confronted an annoyed and irritated Tsmikas.
Another clip shows Jones again venting his anger at the Greek left-back with Szoboszlai standing around, seeing Jeremie Frimpong intervene to defuse the situation, but Jones continues to make his grievances clear.
It remains unknown precisely what exactly triggered the spat but it raises concerns about dressing room dynamics going forward.
It followed a match that featured little quality from Liverpool or Wrexham, as Rio Ngumoha’s 75th-minute strike proved to be the key difference at full-time.
The team contained a mixture of first-team stars and academy options once again, with some key players still yet to return to action for Andoni Iraola at this stage.
Szoboszlai and Jones were amongst those senior players to participate, with the former completing 75 minutes while the latter was brought on shortly after the interval for 40 minutes of involvement.
Jones’ future remains uncertain and his outburst might not help his case to remain at Liverpool, with the versatile midfielder having just one year left on his Liverpool contract.
Inter Milan have been linked with a move for Jones, having had a bid rejected for the star, while other European and Premier League clubs have also been linked with the six-time England international, including Tottenham in January.
Meanwhile, the player himself appeared to distance himself from a proposed move to Nottingham Forest with a reply on Instagram.
