Mikel Arteta’s summer transfer wishlist could be on the brink of materialising. Newcastle skipper Bruno Guimaraes remains a key target and Eddie Howe’s shock exit this week might provide the Gunners with the breakthrough they’ve been seeking.

Eager to join Arsenal, the Brazilian’s potential move to the Emirates Stadium this month would enhance the impressive squad depth in midfield. There’s every possibility that Guimaraes could be accompanied in north London by his international colleague Vinicius Junior.

The Real Madrid winger – who has 12 months left on his contract – is attracting attention from the Premier League title holders. The Gunners may now be compelled to reach a conclusion in their pursuit of the 26-year-old following Madrid’s apparent clarification of their position.

Vinicius Jr’s future has sparked significant speculation for several months, with the uncertainty encouraging Arsenal to express their interest in securing the Brazilian sensation, reports Football London.

Attempts to agree a contract extension at Real Madrid have failed to produce a resolution, and it seems the Spanish heavyweights are becoming increasingly frustrated with the deadlocked negotiations.

According to Marca, Jose Mourinho’s side have tabled a final offer to the 26-year-old, with no further wage enhancements or additional negotiation rounds expected. The Spanish outlet suggests that if Vinicius turns down the proposal, Madrid will seek to sell him this summer.

The club’s hierarchy have allegedly rejected his requests to be put on a par with their top earner, Kylian Mbappe. Mourinho – who returned to the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this summer – is believed to have personally told the Brazilian of his wish for him to stay.

Months of work to secure a deal for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes appear to have finally borne fruit. According to L’Equipe, the Gunners have reached a £77million agreement with the Magpies for his services, while add-ons and agent commissions are still being ironed out.

Another party set to profit from the deal is Guimaraes’ former club Lyon. The French outfit sold the midfielder to Newcastle for £40m in 2022, with the condition that the Ligue 1 side would receive 20% of any future transfer profit.

If the final sum settles at £77million, Lyon would be owed nearly £8million. He is keen to link up with the Premier League champions and his departure would mark the fourth major summer exit from Newcastle, after Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and manager Howe.
