Today marks a big day in the 28-year-old midfielder’s future with it reported that he has returned to link up with Newcastle for the first time in pre-season. Guimaraes has been on extended leave following his World Cup run with Brazil, and he is set to arrive in La Manga to begin work.
However, Guimaraes’ priority is a move to the Premier League champions and he is expected to repeat his desire to leave the club amid reports Arsenal had an opening formal offer rejected by the Magpies.

A fee in the region of £75m has been mooted for his signature and Arsenal are hard at work trying to get the best deal for themselves with the start of their season beginning on Sunday, August 16 in the Community Shield against Manchester City.
Time will tell if the Brazilian walks out with Arsenal at Wembley, and whether his stunning wife Ana Linda Martins will be cheering him on in red rather than black and white.
The couple started dating in 2020 when Guimaraes was playing for Athletico Paranaense in their homeland, and it must have been true love as just months into dating she’d also moved to France with the midfielder when he joined Lyon.

Ana completed academic training in nutrition and works as a nutritionist while also taking courses related to personal training and health – something Guimaraes’ career will certainly be thanking in the years to come.
The two welcomed their first child together in 2022 with the Brazilian posting a gushing message to Ana on social media, congratulating her and expressing his love and gratitude.
They soon married in 2023 in Rio de Janeiro in a spectacular ceremony under the statue of Christ the Redeemer, and have since welcomed a second children together in March 2024.

She also got in the World Cup spirit as she donned a number of Brazil shirts during the tournament, even posing alongside her two boys as she cheered Guimaraes on.
However, the midfielder will be looking to return to the pitch as soon as possible after he missed a crucial penalty in the round of 16 defeat to Norway.
Newcastle take on Valencia in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, whether Guimaraes will be walking out with his team-mates remains unknown.
