Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has collapsed and received medical treatment in a pre-season friendly clash wth FC Heidenheim just a few days after a similar scary incident.

The German international had to leave the field of play against RB Leipzig in a pre-season encounter with their Bundesliga rivals last week.

The incident was attributed to the scorching temperatures in Munich, with the player coming off the bench in the 71st minute against Leipzig.

Musiala scored in the 81st minute but collapsed just a few minutes later and had to be replaced in the 85th minute.

Speaking after the incident, Bayern chief Max Eberl said: “The most important thing is that he is well. There’s nothing more to say about anything else.”

Manuel Neuer added: “It will become clear what it was. But of course we are keeping our fingers crossed.”

Now, Musiala has suffered from a similar episode in a pre-season win over Heidenheim, just minutes after coming off the bench.

He dropped to the ground and was subsequently escorted off the pitch by medical personnel, reports the Mirror.

Prior to that, both teams’ players formed a protective circle around the midfielder as he received attention from club medics.

Posting on Instagram after the incident on Tuesday, Musiala said: “First things first – I’m doing well! I’m especially grateful for your messages and support!

“I understand that many of you are worried. I’d like to alleviate those concerns today and explain something:

“I’ve been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures, which are due to a neurological dysfunction. These can lead to the recent episodes, like the one against Leipzig or now in Heidenheim.

“I know they seem scary at first glance – but for me, they’re currently just part of my everyday life. I’m receiving excellent medical treatment and am very optimistic. FC Bayern and my family and friends are always by my side and supporting me on this journey.

“Importantly, there are no further health risks. In close consultation and regular communication with the experts, it was my personal wish to face this challenge and, with the clearance from the neurologists, to continue focusing on what helps me most in my recovery: simply living my daily life and pursuing my passion for playing football. I’ve taken responsibility for that. Overall, I have a very good feeling and I’m on the right track.

“What helps me most on this path is continuing to chase victories and titles with my team and your amazing support.”I hope you can understand me better now. At the same time, I ask for your understanding that I would like to keep this matter within my closest circle of confidants, the club, and the experts.

“Thank you so much, J.”

Musiala’s recent collapse follows his return to Bayern training. The 23-year-old participated in individual sessions following examinations earlier this week.

The latest development is bound to cause worry for Musiala, who was absent for the opening six months of the previous season due to a fractured ankle he picked up at the Club World Cup last summer.

He recovered in time to earn selection in the Germany squad for the 2026 World Cup as Die Mannschaft were eliminated at the last-32 stage by Paraguay.

Musiala has been at Bayern since making the switch from Chelsea in 2019, having previously come through the Southampton academy system.

He has since racked up 231 appearances for the Bavarian powerhouse and found the net 69 times.
