UK ‘scorching’ climate maps exhibits hovering 30C temperatures in 7 counties subsequent week
Thought summer was over? Wrong! It’s back and it’s going to get hot again next week as seven English counties will all hit soaring temperatures of 30C at some point next week
Temperatures could shoot back up into the high-20s and possibly even reach 30C again next week, according to weather forecasting models.
Brits might have been enjoying a bit of much needed cooler weather this week – and, shock, some rain – but the Met Office has spelt an end to this period. The weather service says “short-lived warm or hot spells are possible” towards the end of the month and at the start of September, especially in the south of the UK.
Temperatures are set to rise again from next Tuesday, peaking at 30C on Wednesday. Data suggests seven English counties could see 30C next week, as this hot summer continues.
UK counties facing 30C
- Norfolk
- Suffolk
- Essex
- Cambridgeshire
- Hertfordshire
- Middlesex
- Kent
The national weather agency predicts: “Becoming more unsettled and changeable from the south at the start of this period, as showers or longer spells of rain spread north across many parts of the UK. Some heavy bursts and thunderstorms are likely at times.
“Thereafter, it will likely remain changeable through the rest of August and into early September, with rainfall amounts probably above average for the time of year.
“Some drier, more settled interludes could develop at times. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although some short-lived warm or hot spells are possible, especially in the south.”
Looking further ahead in its forecast for September 4 to September 18, the Met Office says conditions “may turn warmer later with a chance of some hot periods in the south”.
However, the start of the period is likely to be “changeable” with “longer spells of rain across many areas, perhaps heavy and thundery in places”.
