Erling Haaland has cut his iconic long locks for a new radical short hairstyle just hours before Manchester City start their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth.

The Manchester City striker, 26, has become synonymous with his long blonde hair and went viral during the World Cup as social media users who are unfamiliar with the Norwegian loved his locks during the tournament.

But hours before returning to Premier League action, Haaland has stunned everyone by previewing a number of short hairstyles that he is planning to rock after chopping his flowing hair off.

Haaland took to X on Sunday morning to post a short video of the before and after of his haircut and later shared a few selfies of him trialling different styles, leaving fans guessing on how he will look when he takes to the field.

He captioned the video: “New season, new trim. Full episode on YT!” While his later snaps were shared with the words: “Short hair don’t care.”

However, concerned fans took to social media to react to his new dramatic look, worrying that his goalscoring powers might have been in his locks. One user said: “Have you not chopped off the goals?”

But City can quickly forget that display when they take on Marco Rose’s Bournemouth side at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
