Holidaymakers faced a nightmare in the skies when their Ryanair flight was forced to leave them in a completely different country after a mid-air emergency. The plane was heading from Scotland to Portugal on Monday morning when it hit trouble just minutes before landing.
Flight RYR66AH had left Edinburgh Airport around 7.16am following a short delay, with passengers expecting to touch down in Faro for a relaxing getaway.
But problems began near the destination when the pilot was forced to hit the alarm button and declare an emergency onboard. Radar data showed the plane travelling in circles over Portugal before abandoning the landing.

Instead of touching down in Faro, the pilot pulled away and headed across the border into Spain, reports Edinburgh Live.
The plane finally hit the tarmac in Seville at 9.55am, leaving stranded passengers around 120 miles away from where they were supposed to be.
It is still unknown what went wrong inside the cabin to trigger the mid-flight issue.
