Although summer is still with us, plenty of people are already anticipating autumn, including switching from lighter floral scents to cosier perfumes. So, we’re thrilled to have spotted a beloved warming fragrance currently on offer – perfectly timed for the approaching season.

Kayali’s Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar l 42 Eau de Parfum is presently discounted at Sephora, with a 50ml bottle reduced to £56 from £80, offering customers a £24 saving. A larger 100ml version is also on sale, dropped to £77 from £110.

The fragrance is billed as a ‘lighter, youthful take’ on Kayali’s signature Vanilla 28 scent (£110 for 100ml, Cult Beauty), which showcases vanilla orchid, brown sugar and jasmine. By contrast, Candy Rock Sugar combines glazed pear and bubble gum for a gourmand sweetness, while tonka bean, sandalwood and patchouli contribute a warming, snug feel.

For an even richer scent composition, Kayali’s Oudgasm Vanilla Oud (£95.20 with code BEAUTY20, Boots) presents another choice. Housed in a sleek black vessel, the fragrance blends vanilla, saffron, praline, and oud for a warm, spiced aroma.

And looking beyond Kayali, another well-loved autumn-themed perfume is Maison Margiela’s Autumn Vibes (£62 for 30ml, Space NK). It encapsulates the spirit of woody autumnal air with pink peppercorn, cardamom essence, and coriander essence, reports OK!.

Vanilla Candy features glazed pear and bubble gum for a fruity, candy-like sweetness with a tempting vanillic explosion.

Meanwhile, PHLUR’s latest offering, Vanilla Canyon (£99 for 50ml, Space NK), boasts a rich depth of oak wood, wild honey, and patchouli. It’s already received rave reviews from fans, with one gushing: “It’s milky, it’s smoky, it’s perfect just as it is.”

Turning back to Kayali, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar has garnered glowing reviews from Sephora shoppers. One beauty enthusiast shared: “I purchased the smaller bottle and loved it. I have a feeling I am going to go through it quickly, it lasts on my skin all day. I sprayed at night and woke up in the morning smelling on my clothing several hours later.

“It’s perfect for dates, in the office, fun, and cosy (all occasions). When I first spray it, the scent tingles on my nose, but wow, the dry down is perfect. This has to be my favourite and currently my only Kayali fragrance. Highly recommend.”

Meanwhile, another person chimed in: “Sweet, sweet, sweet but lovely. Strong and lasts all day. I love the caramelised pear scent. It is a bit much for summertime, but it’s one of my go tos in the fall and winter.”

However, as with all fragrances, it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. This mixed review reads: “Honestly not what I expected from the perfume. The longevity was okay, but the smell was not anywhere near vanilla. It reminded me of Black Opium.”

On a more positive note, this Kayali fan commented: “I keep reaching for this. There’s something different in this accord that makes it feel unique; that initial bubblegum/abstract sweet berry note has become addictive and, perhaps, the thing that makes it stand out compared to other gourmands.

“It’s become my signature scent, sometimes layered with not a perfume to make it more airy sugar cloud or Au the blanc to make it more sophisticated. Despite going nose blind after maybe an hour or so, I get compliments on it all day even if I’ve stopped smelling it on myself, and I can smell it on my clothes for days.”
