Riot yob jailed after ‘fleeing nation’ – as everybody makes the identical joke
A riot yob has been mercilessly mocked on social media after his mug shot with flashy white grin was shared by cops, users joking he “must have gone to Turkey.”

A riot yob who fled the country has been mercilessly mocked for his “Turkey Teeth” after being jailed for his part in the disorder. Jamie Latham, 38, was nicked by cops as he landed in Newcastle from a flight from Alicante after two years on the run.
Latham was wanted by cops after leading a march along Linthrope Road in Middlesbrough before kicking and punching brave cops on the frontline. Police said he then fled the country and is believed to have travelled to various countries in Europe.
But when cops posted his grinning mugshot online, social media wags questioned if he’d been to Turkey for a new set of gnashers. One said: “He obviously fled to Turkey judging by that smile.”

Cleveland Police said the thug was wanted on suspicion of violent disorder and was arrested in June after they were tipped off he was travelling back to the UK.
He returned from sunny Costa Blanca nearly two years after the riots took place and was cuffed in Newcastle Airport by officers who met him off the plane.
Another social media user joked: “Those teeth made him stand out like a sore thumb, he could have evaded capture if it wasn’t for those teeth!” A third remarked: “He’s been to Turkey, nice job giving him a welcome home party!”

Footage showed Latham, of Stockton, repeatedly throwing right hooks at coppers and kicking shields during the violence. He was caught on camera lamping one police officer in the face.
Another police officer was kicked and stamped on by a crowd after being dragged to the ground. Latham had 11 convictions on his criminal record including spitting at and charging towards fans at football matches and assaulting an emergency worker, police said.
Judge Richard Bennett said Latham was one of the “main agitators in ugly and violent disorder” and jailed him for 33 months. Another Facebook user said: “He should’ve received another 36 months for those teeth.”

Several social media users were also tickled by the man’s tan. One comment read: “Been to tan-tastic as well by the looks of it.” A second user joked: “He should take more care with his skin in the sun.”
A third quipped: “He looks like he is wearing a Donald Trump mask.”
Assistant Chief Constable Dave Sutherland said the level of violence faced by officers in the summer of 2024 was unprecedented. He added assaulting police officers was completely unacceptable.
