Arsenal are running out of time if they want to secure the services of Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez – who has been linked with a £128million move to north London.

There are less than two days remaining before the window slams shut, and the Argentine’s future is still up in the air despite a major update on Sunday afternoon. However, there is still time for outgoings at the Emirates Stadium and Gabriel Jesus might be set to make room for Alvarez.

And as the deadline rapidly approaches, Daily Star Sport rounds up all the latest news from the red side of north London – and what Arsenal fans can expect in the remaining 48 hours.

Alvarez was back in Atletico Madrid training on Sunday despite continuing rumours about his future. The Argentine, who has been amongst Arsenal’s primary targets in recent months, was absent from three squad training sessions last week due to what the club described as an “indisposition”, reports the Mirror.

He was also omitted from Diego Simeone’s squad for Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Sevilla. It remains unclear whether his return to the squad signals that the 26-year-old has decided to stay in the Spanish capital past the transfer deadline.

Alvarez had made his intentions crystal clear early on that he was determined to join Barcelona this summer. However, after Atletico prevented him from switching to their La Liga rivals, Arsenal emerged as the most probable destination, with Atleti willing to sanction a £128m sale of their unhappy star.

Gabriel Jesus set for dream move

Gabriel Jesus is reportedly on the verge of sealing a dream switch to Barcelona. The Brazilian, 29, has been linked with a departure throughout this summer, having been deemed expendable by Arteta.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the Gunners have accepted an £8.57m bid from the La Liga champions for Jesus’ services. Performance-related bonuses are also part of the package, according to the Italian journalist.

Jesus is due to undergo a medical on Monday before completing his switch to Camp Nou. The former Manchester City striker has been training separately from Arteta’s first-team squad after being made available for transfer.
