TV’s Gary Lineker says he believes he is being controlled by aliens. The 65-year-old former England striker – who played for Spurs, Barcelona, Leicester, and Everton – said he feels ‘incredibly lucky’ how his life has turned out.
So lucky, in fact, he reckons he must have been given a ‘helping hand’ by aliens from another planet.
Dad-of-four Gary, who presented Match of the Day for just over 25 years, said he often thought it was extra terrestrials who were ‘directing’ him, and who had made him into such a good footballer.
Gary, who has won four major trophies, the Golden Boot at the 1986 World Cup, and netted 48 times for England, also has a £30m fortune.
Speaking this week, however, he said he often ‘wondered’ whether he was being controlled in some kind of game by ‘someone on another planet’.

The host of new TV show The Box – which kicked off on our screens yesterday (Sat, Sept 5) – said: “I sometimes wonder why I’ve been so lucky in life.
“I always wonder whether I’m being played by someone with a PlayStation game on some other planet who’s actually quite good, and got the best player playing.”
He also said he was incredibly lucky to be asked to host the new ITV game show which sees celebs packed into yellow boxes and sent to mystery locations to compete in various games, tasks, and challenges.
He said: “I’ve got myself in a position where I can just do what I want.
“I didn’t necessarily need do The Box, but I really liked the idea, and never done anything like that before.

“It’s not often there’s something fun and different you can do when you’re in your mid-60s.”
Tottenham fan Carl Taylor, 58, of Rickmansworth, Herts, said if he’d had the good fortune of Gary, he’d probably thinks he was in the real-life Matrix-style simulation game.He said: “For a lad from Leicester with ears like the FA Cup, he’s done pretty well for himself.“He’s a footballing legend, has millions in the bank, four kids, and seems to have an amazingly happy life – so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s sold his soul to the devil, or to some form of extra terrestrial life-form at least.”
