Police swarmed UK highschool as scared dad and mom say ‘not risking it’ after ‘menace’

Police are probing bomb threats made towards a high school in East Kilbride, Scotland, as some parents have said they will be keeping their kids off.
Sickening messages were shared on social media, threatening Calderglen High School in South Lanarkshire.
The anonymous account on X claimed to have planted explosives and tagged several pages linked to the school and council area. Police confirmed they were investigating the malicious communications.
A comprehensive search of the area using specialist resources, including sniffer dogs trained to detect explosives, has already been conducted, reports the Daily Record. Officers reported that nothing worrying was found and police will maintain a presence in the area.

Chief Inspector Paul Doyle stated: “We are investigating what is believed to be a malicious communication sent to a high school in East Kilbride on the morning of Monday, 7 September, 2026.
“There has been subsequent online messaging regarding this, which is also being investigated.
“I want to reassure the public, we’ve carried out thorough searches of the area with specialist resources, including an explosives search dog, and nothing of concern was discovered. Officers will continue to have an increased presence in the area and anyone with concerns can speak to them or call us on 101.
“I want to be clear: making hoax threats is a criminal offence and we’re doing all we can to trace the person responsible.”
Despite police reassurance, scared parents also pledged to keep their children home for the day following news of the threat.
One parent said: “I’m keeping my son off. Not risking it.”
Another went on: “Are they not even going to send a statement out or acknowledge anyone’s fear?
“Surely something has to be done/said. My son won’t be going in. Especially if they aren’t going to acknowledge this, even if its a hoax.”
South Lanarkshire Council has been approached for comment.
